FEA model checking update

Excellence in finite element model checking

Finite Element model checking is an area frought with danger for errors in reporting results.

We at Frewer Engineering take model checking seriously and all our staff who perform analysis of designs have recently been on an FEA model checking course on site with one of our suppliers, MSC Software (Frimley).

This course covered areas such as:
Element quality (aspect ratio and density)
Connecting elements of different types to eliminate compatability problems (eg solid elements to rigid beams that can give problems with rotational degrees of freedom problems)
Rounding off errors in the analysis
Maximum pivot ratio problems
Grounded constraints
Groundchecks
Frequency range settings
Element strain energy checks
Grid point kinetic energy checks
Weightchecks etc...
