Concept Design

Drawing on years of experience from an array of different backgrounds, our team of design engineers is able to offer creative and innovative solutions to a wide range of requirements in many industries. A flexible and versatile approach is used, allowing us to work closely with clients in the conceptual stages of a project. Visual representation and preliminary analysis are utilised to investigate, develop and communicate our designs and allow early assessment of solutions, giving our clients confidence that deliverables can be achieved.

We employ techniques such as gap analysis, trade off studies and weighted decision matrices to progress designs with purpose, before moving on to optimisation processes. Feasibility can be assessed using our extensive experience of working with many manufacturers and material suppliers, as well as working with specialists when cutting-edge solutions are required.

 

Our team has confidence in working in multi-discipline environments and communicating with technical and non-technical clients alike. Our designers are comfortable working to specific requirements or working with our clients to establish their detailed requirements before developing solutions.

 

Design for Manufacture

Our engineers are highly skilled in the design of complex and cutting-edge products. Using 3D CAD tools, concept designs are developed into fully detailed designs that are fit for manufacture. Design engineers work closely with analysts to ensure that all products are optimised to meet our clients’ requirements.

We regularly work with large assemblies and use various techniques for component identification and version control. As well as detailed component manufacturing drawings, we are able to produce scheme-level General Arrangement (GA) drawings, both of which are subject to our internal drawing checking procedures, implemented by our experienced drawing verifiers.

 

We produce manufacturing drawings to a number of industry standards and can work to bespoke requirements depending on our clients’ needs. Our design engineers are skilled in the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), limits and fits, as well as drawing standards for composites. Supporting documentation can be provided such as design reports and build manuals, which are used by our clients for the life of the equipment. Involvement in manufacturing support gives an additional element of quality control throughout the process of manufacture.
