Advanced Engineering Division

The Advanced Engineering Division of Frewer Engineering provides combined design and analysis support services, for equipment and rigs projects. We deliver predominantly to the Aerospace, Nuclear, Marine and Defence industry sectors.

Our projects typically involve the design of highly loaded and/or lightweight metallic structures, requiring a significant level of structural optimisation. We often design for environments which present a thermal or chemical challenge, surviving extremes of heat and pressure. To deliver this service, we specialise in design using high-strength metallic alloys of steel, aluminium, and titanium as well as exotic metals.

All staff within the division are fluent in at least two engineering software codes; one seat of Design software and one seat of analysis software, usually Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and sometimes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). This approach allows optimisation work to be conducted efficiently from the same desk by the same person (with peer review), with clear cost-saving results.

Where project requirements drive the use of dynamic or high strain-rate structural analyses, or the use of specialist CFD, heat transfer or magnetic field analysis tools, we would call upon the specific expertise of the Advanced Analysis & CFD Division. Where high specific stiffness and stringent weight requirements drive the use of Carbon or Glass composite materials, we call upon the specific expertise of the Advanced Composites Division. In this way, it is the seamless interaction of the three Divisions within Frewer Engineering which is our true Unique Selling Point (USP).
