Individuals within Frewer Engineering offer specific expertise in certain areas but all are trained to be well-rounded engineers with a breadth of knowledge across a number of different sectors, services and software tools. We find that this approach provides our customers with the benefit of fresh eyes, valuable insight from other areas, and often a different angle of attack for design challenges. Our customers are able to access a mixed analytical and creative service, which they find difficult to match elsewhere in the marketplace.
Communication with our customers is paramount. All correspondence, from emails to formal reports, is conducted in plain English, with great care taken to explain even the most complex engineering issues, in a manner which can be understood at all levels. Frewer Engineering has historically been built as a partially virtual consultancy. As such, we are well versed in carrying out work across different sites, borders and time-zones. We are experienced users of remote business communication tools such as Webex and Skype amongst others.
Nothing can compete with direct face-to-face communication with our customers. We are a people-centred business and no amount of remote working can replace a meeting in person. To this end, we travel frequently to our customer’s sites throughout the UK and overseas. Furthermore, we are keen to provide our graduate and junior engineers with real-world experience of engineering manufacture, at all levels, from large-scale fabrication, to precision machining, nano-engineering, additive manufacture and 3D printing. We welcome any opportunity to carry out site-visits, factory tours and first-article inspections for our designs. We believe this helps to train better engineers, with a true appreciation for materials, methods, finishes and Design for Manufacture (DFM) aspects.
We offer a full turnkey design service which involves capturing and refining our customer’s requirements; generating a full engineering specification, producing early-stage concept designs and developing these into fully detailed solutions with supporting analyses. We are able to provide manufacturing support throughout the prototyping, production and commissioning stages for our designs.
As part of our design processes, we consider all aspects of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), including decommissioning and disposal at the end-of-life, in compliance with applicable legislation. This is of particular importance in our composites design work when some fibre and resin combinations are taken out of circulation to meet revised environmental and HSE regulations.
Our designers work closely with our analysts in mixed teams across our three divisions, to give us the ability to supply a turnkey solution to our customers that is fully assessed and justified for use. Our clients benefit from continuous investment in our team’s capabilities in the areas of 3D CAD modelling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and other engineering analysis tools, as well as Design for Manufacture (DFM) techniques.
