Plans for 2020

After an exceptional year in 2019 which has seen us grow in capabilities and scope, we plan to further develop our capabilities to suit our customer needs. Its all about developing agility in 2020.

Meeting our customers requirements to “one stop shop” Computational Fluid dynamics (CFD), Fluid Structure Interaction Analysis (FSI) and advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA), coupled with our advanced 3D CAD design skills, gives us a capability that is hard to find under one company roof!

Combining the above capabilities with our composite structures design team gives us the ability to resource complex projects unique to our business! Click here to find out more on our services to industry.

Aero-engine Gas Turbine Development Update

This market remains one of our most active and 2020 looks to be no different. In 2020 we will be developing stronger links with manufacturing companies, working closely with them to develop our design manufacturing data and drawings. This development will allow us to make increased use of 3D CAD for machining, resulting in less detail drafting effort and providing our customers quicker solutions.

Our design for manufacture capabilities will be bolstered by these closer ties with manufacturing companies to ensure our designs are matched to the production resource available. We are developing closer links with other design suppliers in the fields of instrumentation, pressure vessel accreditation and detail drawing support through 2020.

Our CFD/FSI services continue to grow

In 2019 we invested heavily in both staff and software tools along with computing hardware to service this hugely successful market. In 2020 we will continue to develop our fluid modelling (CFD) and fluid structure interaction capabilities further. The ability to model structures ditching, in wave motion and fluid contact alongside our composite structures knowledge, gives us the ability to refine designs and tune them for minimum weight, minimum wake and determine load data for use in the structural analysis. Our engineering team can deploy a wealth of experience giving our customers reliable predictions!

Submersible Marine Structures

Marine Equipment Design & Analysis

We have been very active in this market throughout 2019, resulting in us developing honed skills in the field of deeply submersed composite structures. In 2020 we will be investing further in the strength predictions of composite structures, developing our 3D CAD (using PTCCreo) and much more!

This market exercises our CFD and composite structures design teams along with our advanced finite element analysis engineers allowing us to perform a one stop shop for our customers requirements. In 2020 we will be developing our analysis techniques for “thick composite” structures which requires a unique approach in the field of strength assessment.

Composite Structures Update

In 2020 we will be developing closer links with the NPL (National Physical Laboratory) to access composite material strength databases, giving us greater reliability when modelling structures before they have been tested. Our composite team are already involved with the NPL through the Industrial Advisory Composites Group (IAG) allowing us to keep up with state of the art developments in materials and test methods.

Geoff Sherwood joins us

Geoff joined us in December and is already fully active in our Design Team. With a Masters (First Class Hons) degree in Aerospace Engineering and having previously worked in design with another large Aerospace Engineering company, Geoff adds increased resource capability for large complex aerospace projects for our customers.
