Welcome to the latest Frewer Engineering newsletter.
This month’s edition features our composites expertise, BSI reaccreditation and CFD assessment insights.
We hope you enjoy the read!
Composite Engineering Expertise
Composites continue to play an important role in a number of the projects we support at Frewer Engineering, particularly where weight, stiffness and structural performance need to be carefully balanced.
Our composites team provides support from early design thinking through to detailed design, analysis and manufacturing input. This includes material and laminate considerations, lay-up definition, tooling awareness and practical support for manufacture. We also carry out structural assessment, including static, shock and dynamic analysis where required, helping customers understand how their composite structures are likely to perform in service.
Much of this work builds on our experience across aerospace and marine programmes, where technical performance has to sit alongside practical manufacture and reliable operation.
We keep a close watch on developments across the composites sector. This month, members of our composites team attended the SAMPE UK & Ireland annual conference, taking the opportunity to hear more about current materials, processes and manufacturing approaches.
If you would like support with a composite structure or programme, please get in touch.
BSI ISO 9001 Reaccreditation
We’re pleased to announce that we’ve successfully achieved reaccreditation with BSI ISO 9001, the internationally recognised standard for quality management systems.
This certification reaffirms our ongoing commitment to maintaining structured, efficient processes and delivering high-quality engineering design and analysis services.
ISO 9001 certification is a core requirement for many of our clients and serves as a clear indicator of our commitment to consistent, high-standard delivery. It demonstrates that our systems are externally audited and meet rigorous international benchmarks.
This reaccreditation confirms that our quality management processes remain robust, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices, ensuring we continue to meet client expectations and project requirements with precision and reliability.
CFD Support for Ventilation and Leakage Assessment
Computational Fluid Dynamics can provide useful insight well beyond the flow paths inside equipment. For industrial facilities, it can also be used to assess the movement of air around large machinery, enclosures and plant rooms, where ventilation performance is an important part of safe and reliable operation.
At Frewer Engineering, we use CFD to help customers understand how air moves through complex spaces, where stagnant regions may form, and how effectively ventilation removes areas of low movement. This can be particularly valuable where access is limited, equipment layouts are congested, or physical testing would be difficult to carry out early in a programme.
Our work can include building representative flow models, reviewing ventilation paths, identifying potential dead zones, comparing layout or fan arrangements, and presenting results in a clear format for engineering and safety discussions.
Used in this way, CFD can help inform design decisions, improve confidence in ventilation performance, and reduce uncertainty before changes are made on site.
